Swim Safe Kenya (SSK), in partnership with Genesis Sports, is proud to be named the main sponsor of the Kiambu County Aquatics Association (KCAA) Invitational Swimming Gala, scheduled to take place on 24th and 25th January 2026 at the Mpesa Foundation Academy. The event will be hosted at the academy’s state-of-the-art half Olympic swimming pool, providing a world-class setting for competitive swimming.
This landmark gala marks the biggest event ever organized by KCAA, drawing an impressive over 480 swimmers from six counties and recording a remarkable 2,800 race entries. The scale and participation underscore the rapid growth of swimming and aquatic sports within the region, as well as the increasing commitment to nurturing young talent.
The Director of Swim Safe Kenya, who also serves as the Honorary Secretary of KCAA, will be in attendance at the prestigious event and is expected to deliver a key address. In his speech, he will highlight a critical concern affecting school swimming programs: the engagement of unqualified coaches who lack lifeguard training. He will emphasize that this practice poses a serious risk to learners’ safety, as children are often placed under the supervision of individuals without proper lifesaving skills or emergency response training.
He will further call on schools and institutions to prioritize qualified personnel and to actively integrate survival swimming and water safety education into school programs. Such measures are essential in addressing the global drowning crisis. Current statistics indicate that approximately 345,000 lives are lost worldwide each year due to drowning, making it one of the leading causes of accidental death, particularly among children.
Swim Safe Kenya continues to work tirelessly to sensitize the public on water safety skills, drowning prevention, and survival swimming, in line with its guiding motto:
“Promoting Water Safety.”
Through strategic partnerships, sponsorships, and advocacy at major sporting events such as the KCAA Invitational Swimming Gala, Swim Safe Kenya reaffirms its commitment to creating safer aquatic environments and saving lives—one swimmer, one school, and one community at a time.
