Nairobi, Kenya – August 2025 — Swim Safe Kenya (SSK), a leading non-profit advocating for water safety and swimming education, proudly partnered with the Private & International Prep Schools Sports Association of Kenya (PIPSSA-K) to host the prestigious American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) Program at Crawford International School, Runda.
The week-long program, which concluded on Saturday, 16th August 2025, brought together over 200 participants from countries such as Qatar, Oman, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, and Kenya, making it one of the largest swimming coaching clinics in the region.
SSK Alumni and Directors Shine at ASCA Program
Swim Safe Kenya prides itself on producing more than 70 alumni who successfully took part in this international coaching program. Among them were two of SSK’s own directors:
- Mr. Okatso Douglas, Director of Swim Safe Kenya and Honorary Secretary of Kiambu County Aquatics Association (KCAA).
- Mr. King’ang’ai Victor, Co-Director of Swim Safe Kenya.
Both directors earned the prestigious ASCA Level 4 Coach Certification, marking a major milestone not only for their personal careers but also for SSK’s commitment to nurturing world-class coaches and water safety advocates in Kenya.
Global Recognition for Swim Safe Kenya
The program facilitator, Coach Sarah Holman, praised Swim Safe Kenya for its outstanding role in advocating for water safety and producing highly skilled lifeguards and coaches.
During the graduation ceremony, Hon. Stanley Kaberu, Director of PIPSSA-Kenya and Genesis Sports Ltd, also acknowledged SSK for its remarkable efforts. He commended the organization for producing the most competent lifeguards, many of whom are now advancing to become ASCA-certified swimming coaches.
