Nairobi, Kenya – 26th September 2025Swim Safe Kenya (SSK) has once again demonstrated its leadership in water safety training by successfully completing an intensive lifeguard refresher program at Kenton College Preparatory School. The program, which concluded on 26th September 2025, saw seven PE teachers and sports coaches officially recertified.

Why Lifeguard Refresher Training Matters

Lifeguarding requires continuous practice and updated knowledge of rescue techniques, first aid, and emergency response protocols. The refresher program ensured that participants:

  • Updated their rescue skills for pool and open-water scenarios.
  • Reviewed CPR and First Aid procedures, aligning with the latest global standards.
  • Practiced real-life simulations, including water rescues and emergency drills.
  • Strengthened crisis management skills, ensuring calm, quick, and effective responses.

By keeping lifeguards certified and confident, SSK ensures that schools and institutions maintain the highest standards of safety for students and athletes.

Commitment to Schools and Communities

The refresher program is part of Swim Safe Kenya’s ongoing efforts to work with schools, sports associations, and community organizations to advance water safety education and drowning prevention.

Speaking after the certification, SSK representatives emphasized that teachers and coaches play a vital role in safeguarding children during swimming and sports activities. Equipping them with up-to-date lifeguard skills ensures a safer environment for learners.

Swim Safe Kenya remains committed to providing:

  • Swimming lessons for all ages and abilities.
  • Lifeguard training and recertification programs.
  • Water safety education in schools and communities.

Through these initiatives, SSK continues to push forward its mission of creating a drowning-free society in Kenya and beyond.
